At 405 nm, a violet laser pointer emits a pale purple beam that is very close to the ultraviolet range. The beautiful purple beam is less visible than red or green because our eyes are less sensitive to the Ultra Violet (UV) range, so you won't use it for ray tracing experiments. But:
At 5mW (like our other standard laser pointers) the violet laser pointer has a shorter wavelength beam which gives it an amazing superpower – it is energetic enough to teach and demonstrate fluorescence, spectroscopy, and microscopy.
Here is our favorite experiment for you to try!
